Geringhoff World Travels - Brazil

With the winter farm shows wrapping up here in North America, I thought would be cool give you a glimpse of a Geringhoff's booth at an Ag Fair in Brazil. Geringhoff will attend 2 more shows in Brazil this year and one in Portugal and we will bring you looks at those when they happen as well.

More after the jump:

A couple interesting facts about corn harvest in Brazil, many farmers in Brazil and Paraguay plant corn with 45 cm (17.7”) and with odd numbers. This is because soybeans have started to become the most important crop over there. In the past they worked with sowing machines at a distance of 90cm (35.4”). To plant soy, they just increased a row in between and ended up with 45 cm, with an odd numbered machine. In order not to change the sowing machine, they plant corn at 45cm as well. Therefore, the standard corn heads over there are 9,11,13 and 15 rows with 45 cm.

Pictured below is a Northstar (called a Milho Star* over there) 1450 (14 rows at 50 cm (20"). This is the first ever corn reel to be featured in Brazil.
